The position is based at our Office of Public Affairs in Washington, DC in the National Press Building.

Responsibilities include lobbying, principally on federal budgets for science research and education; interacting, maintaining and developing relationships with the Society’s scientists, representatives of Congress and others on budgets and related matters; overseeing the organization and execution of grass roots initiatives, including letter-writing campaigns, Congressional visits for APS membership and Society “alerts” to keep members informed of developments on the Hill; and representing APS at selected advocacy coalitions and scientific meetings.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ph.D. in Physics or related science required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
