The graduate Seminar in Professional Practice is designed to allow students to obtain credit for practical training or internship in a non-traditional environment. Each experience is tailored to the student's needs. The student must submit regular written reports throughout the semester and present a scholarly seminar on her/his research accomplishments, as well as carry out other duties to be established by the student's research advisor in consultation with the supervisor of the internship and the Director of Graduate Studies. One example is a student who obtained her degree in theoretical solid state physics and worked in a large bank on applications of chaos theory and related mathematical techniques in economics.
