Near the Quarter
National D-Day Museum — Lots of World War II stuff.
City tours — Various tours are available. Most are interesting. Some may visit parts of the city still affected by hurricane Katrina.
Tours of the historic Garden District — Fine old homes. Was run daily at 2pm by the US Park Service.
Cemetery Tours — Anne Rice still lives here. Use a guide for your safety however.
Mardi Gras Museum across the river in Algiers — Lots of Mardi Gras floats.
In the city
New Orleans Museum of Modern Art — See the fine collection of Faberge eggs.
The sculpture garden next to the art museum is worth visiting. The 10-foot spider is especially elegant if seen from a distance.
