Workshop on Opportunities in Energy Research
Presenter Slides and Notes
Sunday, March 9
8:30am – 6:30pm
New Orleans Marriott
555 Canal Street, New Orleans
Overview and Goals
This was a one-day workshop for graduate students and postdocs that highlighted the contributions physics-related research can make towards meeting the nation’s energy needs in environmentally friendly ways. The workshop featured plenary talks by leaders in the field of energy research. There were six plenary talks, a panel discussion, and an overview.
Another workshop aim was to show physics graduate students and postdocs how they can contribute to environmental solutions while doing exciting scientific research. We hope these meetings will impact young physicists who are concerned about the environment and who would like to find ways to use their scientific and quantitative skills to help meet the environmental challenges that the world faces. Speaker slides for each talk are linked below.
Funding
The US Department of Energy provided funding that enabled APS to partially defray the expenses of those who needed financial assistance to attend the workshop.
