2010 Conference: Broadening Physics Career Paths: Industry, Education & Policy

June 11 - 13, 2010
The American Center for Physics, College Park, Maryland

The American Physical Society and the American Association of Physics Teachers are pleased to announce the 2010 Physics Department Chairs Conference. This conference is part of a series of conferences that have been organized biennially for the past three decades.

Registration

Registration will be available the first of April. Registration is limited to the first 120 applications received. The deadline for early registration is May 21. The fee for early registration (up to and including May 21) is $315. Registrations received after May 21 will be $395. Registration includes the cost of the Friday night and Saturday night dinners, lunch on Saturday and shuttle bus service between the hotel and the American Center for Physics.

Hotel

The conference hotel will be the Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt . A special room rate of $99 per night has been negotiated with the hotel. Each participant is responsible for making their own hotel or housing arrangements.

Make a reservation at the Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt (special link reserved for this conference)

Reservations can also be made by calling the hotel directly and identifying yourself as a participant at the Chairs Conference to secure the conference rate of $99 per night. Hotel contact information:

Capitol Hill Visits

We invite you to arrive a day early to participate in Congressional Hill Visits on Friday, June 11. Past Congressional Hill visits have been enormously successful and an important part of coordinated physics lobbying activities. As physics department chairs, you carry extra clout and we ask that you use your positions to help the physics community. Please indicate on your registration form that you would like to participate in Congressional Hill Visits. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Kris Larsen in the APS Washington DC Office of Public Affairs (larsen@aps.org).

Plans for an exciting program are underway and we expect a final program will be posted here by the first of April. The conference will begin on Friday evening at the conference hotel with a reception and dinner, followed by a guest speaker. The remaining sessions will take place at the American Center for Physics. The program will end on Sunday by Noon.
