Timothy Lodge

Lodge has been on the faculty at the University of Minnesota since 1982, where he is currently a Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering & Materials Science. He graduated from Harvard in 1975 with a B.A. cum laude in applied mathematics, and earned his PhD at the University of Wisconsin in 1980, working with John Schrag. He then spent 20 months as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at NIST, collaborating with Charles Han. His research interests center on the structure and dynamics of polymer liquids, including solutions, melts, blends, and copolymers, with particular emphases on rheology, diffusion, and scattering techniques. He has authored or co-authored over 160 refereed articles in the field of polymer science, and advised or co-advised 30 PhD theses.

Currently he is the editor of Macromolecules. He has served as Chair (1997-8) and Councilor (2001-4) of the APS Division of Polymer Physics, and as Chair of the Gordon Research Conferences on Colloidal, Macromolecular and Polyelectrolyte Solutions (1998) and Polymer Physics (2000). He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
