Contributing Fluid Dynamics Videos to the eCommons/arXiv System
This is a two-step process: - The video or videos (which must be in MPEG format) are uploaded to eCommons, and the URLs of the video bitstreams are obtained.
- A brief article (may be a page or less) or a full paper is submitted to arXiv, describing the videos and providing links to the URLs obtained in step 1.
Instructions for uploading videos to eCommons - Go to http://ecommons2.library.cornell.edu/fluid.html
- Enter name and e-mail address, and “submit”
- Follow the instructions on the subsequent screens
- Obtain the URLs of the video bitstreams as follows:
- From the My Account: Fluid Dynamics Generic Account screen, click on the View Accepted Submissions button
- click on the title of your video
- right click on View/Open and choose Properties -- which gives the URL OR click open, and the URL is visible
Instructions for submitting the article to arXiv - If you are not already registered with arXiv, go to http://arxiv.org/register and register.
- If you are unfamiliar with arXiv, go to http://arxiv.org/help/submit for general instructions on submitting papers
- Prepare the paper in pdflatex (see sample input file and resulting output).
-
- To facilitate subsequent searching, use the exact phrase “fluid dynamics video” in the abstract.
- Link the video with the pdflatex command href{ecommons-URL}{video-name} and compile with pdflatex to make sure that the hyperlink is working
- go to http://arxiv.org/submit to submit the paper
-
- first page, part C select "Physics", "Fluid Dynamics" section
- second page, enter title, authors, abstract, upload files etc. as normal
- arXiv only accepts submission of .tex files.
