It’s easier than ever to make an impact on science: Join an increasing number of APS members who make an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution to support APS programs.
The American Physical Society (APS) is proud to serve the scientific interests of more than 55,000 members around the world. If your livelihood or personal interests revolve around physics or the dissemination of science more broadly, we hope that APS has had a positive impact on your endeavors. APS not only supports members interests, but also offers programming, education, and information to students, early career professionals, and the general public about physics to broaden the reach of physics and promote science.
If you are over 70 ½ years of age, you can support APS programs through a meaningful and tax-free gift directly from your Traditional or Roth IRA.
Benefits of Making a Qualified Charitable Distribution:
You can support all of the work of APS or you can choose how you wish to support physics including: Education, Diversity, Public Engagement, Government Affairs, International Affairs, and Matching Memberships for researchers in developing countries; or allow your gift to be used where it is most needed.
How it Works:
Initiate a gift by contacting your IRA custodian to request a charitable distribution. You may select a specific program, or support the APS Unrestricted Fund.
Be sure to request that your gift is identified with your name and your intention to use it as a qualified charitable distribution. You may transfer up to $100,000 each year.
Thank You for Making a Difference!
Your support helps APS succeed in its mission to promote science and advance the broader physics community. Thank you for considering a gift to APS.
* Please consult legal or tax professionals for more information regarding your individual situation.
