    Mtingwa, a principal partner at TriSEED Consultants, LLC and administrative judge at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, is a distinguished physicist and advocate for STEM opportunities. He is a Fellow of APS, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP). Mtingwa co-founded prominent organizations globally, including the African Light Source Foundation and Light Sources for Africa, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific (LAAAMP). Mtingwa played a role in designing accelerators at Fermilab, contributing to groundbreaking discoveries such as the top quark and the Higgs particle. He received the APS 2017 Robert R. Wilson Prize and was the first African American to be honored with an APS prize. Mtingwa also received the American Nuclear Society's 2015 Distinguished Service Award and the 2017 US Presidential Award for Excellence in Mentoring. Serving in key roles, such as chair of LAAAMP and president of InCREASE, he promotes international collaboration and accessibility in STEM, earning him accolades like the International Science Council's 2021 Policy-for-Science Award and the AAAS's 2023 Philip Hauge Abelson Prize. Mtingwa holds a BSc in physics and mathematics from MIT and a master’s and PhD from Princeton University.
