Ph.D. degree in Physics from Stanford University in 1987.
Postdoctoral researcher at the Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1986 to 1988.
Faculty member at Hampton University and jointly, Physics Staff member at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility since 1989.
Some of the significant scientific accomplishments during his career are (in collaboration with several outstanding colleagues): (1) First measurement of a nuclear resonance effect in atomic electron capture. (20) First measurement of the muon sticking probability in muon catalyzed fusion. (3) First accurate measurement of the elementary amplitudes in kaon electroproduction. (4) Initiation of the ATLAS effort at Hampton University. (5) Securing the Physics Frontiers Center at Hampton University. Significant awards and honors given to Baker include: (1) Endowed University Professorship at Hampton University. (2) 1997 National Award for Innovation in Teaching and Technology. (3) E. L. Hamm Sr. Distinguished Teaching Award at Hampton University. (4) 1985-86 Dorothy Danforth Compton Fellow.
