Steve Haan received his bachelor's degree in 1973 from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1977. Following post-doctoral work at the National Bureau of Standards in Gaithersburg and at the University of California, Berkeley, he joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1981 where he has been associated with the X-division and working on target design and modeling for inertial confinement fusion. He has worked on the Halite/Centurion program of underground tests for ICF, and currently is working on theory and modeling of hydrodynamic instabilities in ICF targets, on design and modeling of Nova experiments, and on the design and modeling of targets for the National Ignition Facility.
