Poster Guidelines:

  • Your poster must be no larger than 36" high x 48" wide, and consist of materials that can be mounted easily on a bulletin board.
  • Each poster should include the poster title and full names of all contributors, their affiliations, addresses, and an email and/or web link.
    • For more ideas on how to design your poster, see Presentation Tips below.
  • We strongly recommend that you have your poster printed locally or by an online site before you travel to the meeting. You will not be able to print it onsite at UCF.

Poster Competition:

As in past years, a poster prize competition will be held to recognize the best undergraduate presentations. If you would like to opt out of this year’s competition, please email Erika Brown at Brown@aps.org.

Judges will assess posters and talk to presenters throughout the session. Each poster will be assessed by at least two faculty judges, who will provide written feedback for presenters in addition to scoring the presentation. If you plan to compete in the competition, we strongly recommend that you remain by your poster for the majority of the session (Friday 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ET), so as to not miss your judges’ visits.

One oral presentation will be selected for a prize.

Please note: The poster competition is limited to undergraduate students only.

Poster Presentation Tips:

Presentation of a poster provides an opportunity for effective one-to-one communication. The longer presentation time of the poster session enables you to present a more in-depth description and discussion of your work.

To make a successful poster presentation:

  1. Put your poster up at least 1/2 hour prior to the start of the poster session.
  2. Your poster must correspond to the title and content of the abstract you submitted.
  3. Plan your poster to be in logical sequence, i.e. introduction, study design and methods, data collected, conclusion.
  4. Posters should be designed for clear viewing from a distance of beyond 3' so that they can be viewed by a number of people at the same time.
  5. To ensure visual effectiveness of your poster, use large lettering and a minimum of text.
  6. Proofread your poster before printing.
  7. Use of color can visually enhance your poster.
  8. Remove your poster immediately at the close of the poster session.

Oral Presentations
Each presenter will be assigned a 12 minute time slot on Friday, February 7. Each timeslot will include a 10 minute presentation, followed by 2 minutes of Q/A from the audience. Presenters should take care that their presentation does not exceed the allotted time, in order to avoid being cut off before finishing your talk.

Oral Presentation Competition
Presentations will be assessed by at least two faculty judges, who will provide written feedback for presenters in addition to scoring the presentation.

One poster presentation will be selected for a prize.

Please note: The poster competition is limited to undergraduate students only.
