Abstract
The standard shell model of nuclei fails to explain the mechanism responsible for stable isotopes of elements. It also fails to explain why elements with atomic number greater than 83 are all radioactive and elements Tc and Pm, atomic number 43 and 61 respectively, have no stable isotopes. The proposed Excess Neutron Shell Model of Nuclei answers these questions and shades light on the mechanism responsible for stable isotopes.
    
Biography
Bhagirath Joshi received his Ms.C. in Solid state Physics from the Gujarat University, India in 1975. Afterwards he studied at Boston College and University of Massachusetts at Lowell where he was awarded M.S. in Computer Engineering. He was consultant to the Computer Industry. He pursued theoretical work in Nuclear Physics. He submitted his finding to Nature in 2011.
