Digital Video Editing for Beginner Science Communicators

Recorded -- Fri Jul 9, 2021
2 hours 23 minutes

Learn the basics of digital video production, including principles of audiovisual science communication.

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then 1 second of video at 30 fps is worth 30,000 words. But what even is “fps”? And how do we cut a video that speaks the words we want to convey? This hands-on workshop will focus on the basics of digital video editing, while also providing practical tips about video production and giving insight into principles of audiovisual (science) communication. We will analyze videos to uncover what works and what doesn’t, and use existing footage of scientist interviews to practice putting together our own mini-narrative videos.
