Igle Gledhill, a visiting adjunct professor at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, boasts a distinguished career in fluid dynamics spanning 30 years at the CSIR. Her postdoctoral work at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) focused on thermonuclear fusion. While at Stanford, she delved into space shuttle physics. Beyond her expertise in fluid dynamics, she made significant contributions as a computational physicist in collaborative efforts related to rational drug design, ocean engineering, and coal mine safety. Gledhill holds leadership roles as vice president of the Network of African Science Academies, acting vice president of the Academy of Science of South Africa, and a Fellow and past president of the South African Institute of Physics. Her international influence extends to serving on the APS Committee on International Affairs and chairing the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Working Group 5 on Women in Physics. Gledhill's commitment to global scientific initiatives is evident through her contributions to the International Science Council project on the Gender Gap in Science, co-founding IUPAP Working Group 21 on Physics for Climate Change Action and Sustainable Development, and participation in the South Africa-UNESCO Science Sector Committee.
